West Chicago, IL — A 17-year-old has been charged as an adult with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of two men in suburban West Chicago over the weekend, authorities announced.
The victims, identified as Alejandro Rios and Antonio Delgado, were found dead after an incident on Saturday night in the 700 block of West Forest Avenue. Police report that the suspect, along with an 18-year-old accomplice, had arranged to meet the victims to purchase THC cartridges. Once inside the victims’ vehicle, the two teens allegedly announced a robbery, leading to a confrontation.
During the altercation, the 17-year-old reportedly fired multiple shots at Rios and Delgado before fleeing the scene on foot. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, the 18-year-old suspect was also injured in the gunfire exchange. He later sought medical treatment at a local hospital, where he was subsequently taken into custody along with the 17-year-old.
The juvenile suspect appeared in court Tuesday for a pretrial detention hearing, during which a judge ordered him to be held until his next hearing in early December, as stated by the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
