WHEATON – DuPage County Animal Services (DCAS) is giving local pet owners the chance to protect their furry friends at no cost during its upcoming Free Vaccine and Microchip Clinic. The event will take place on Monday, September 8, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the DCAS facility, located at 140 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton, IL 60187.
The clinic will provide the following services:
- Rabies Vaccines for cats and dogs over four months old
- Distemper Vaccines for cats and dogs
- Microchip and registration for cats, dogs, and rabbits
To keep the process running smoothly, the line will open at 5:00 p.m. Residents are asked to limit participation to two animals per household and must bring proof of DuPage County residency in order to qualify for the free services.
Microchipping is one of the most effective ways to ensure a lost pet can be reunited with its family. Unlike collars or tags, which can fall off, a microchip is a permanent form of identification registered with the owner’s information. DCAS encourages residents to take advantage of this opportunity, reminding everyone that pets are “never fully dressed without a microchip.”
