WEST CHICAGO, Ill. – State Reps. Janet Yang Rohr, D-Naperville, and Maura Hirschauer, D-Batavia, are partnering to host an open house to showcase resources available to veterans in their communities.
“Veterans and military families sacrifice so much to keep our communities safe, our freedoms secure, and the future bright,” Hirschauer said. “We have the chance to connect our service members with the state and local services and resources they need, so I’m excited to partner with my colleagues to give back to these veterans and their families.”
Yang Rohr and Hirschauer are hosting the open house along with state Sen. Karina Villa, D-West Chicago, on Wednesday, Jan.10 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the VFW Post #6791 at 431 N. Neltnor Blvd. in West Chicago. Attendees will be given the opportunity to ask questions and share their thoughts on upcoming legislation to their elected representatives. This town hall will be the first of many, as the new community advisory committee will meet periodically throughout the year both in-person and virtually.
“While my work in Springfield has helped honor the service and sacrifice of our veterans, we have to do more at the local level. We owe it to our veterans to provide an easy, approachable setting to access housing, medical and other resources they may need,” Yang Rohr said. “I encourage local organizations to save a table and for the community to come out if they have any questions about the resources available to them.”

WEST CHICAGO, Ill. – Las representantes estatales Janet Yang Rohr, demócrata por Naperville, y Maura Hirschauer, demócrata por Batavia, se asociaron para organizar una jornada de puertas abiertas para mostrar los recursos disponibles para los veteranos en sus comunidades.
“Los veteranos y las familias de militares sacrifican mucho para mantener nuestras comunidades seguras, nuestras libertades seguras y un futuro brillante”, dijo Hirschauer. “Tenemos la oportunidad de conectar a nuestros miembros del servicio con los servicios y recursos estatales y locales que necesitan, por lo que estoy emocionado de asociarme con mis colegas para retribuir a estos veteranos y sus familias”.
Yang Rohr y Hirschauer serán los anfitriones de la jornada de puertas abiertas junto con la senadora estatal Karina Villa, demócrata por West Chicago, el miércoles 10 de enero de 7 p.m. a 8 p.m. en el VFW Post #6791 en 431 N. Neltnor Blvd. en el oeste de Chicago. Los asistentes tendrán la oportunidad de hacer preguntas y compartir sus opiniones sobre la próxima legislación con sus representantes electos. Este ayuntamiento será el primero de muchos, ya que el nuevo comité asesor comunitario se reunirá periódicamente durante todo el año, tanto en persona como virtualmente.
“Si bien mi trabajo en Springfield ha ayudado a honrar el servicio y el sacrificio de nuestros veteranos, tenemos que hacer más a nivel local. Le debemos a nuestros veteranos brindarles un entorno fácil y accesible para acceder a vivienda, atención médica y otros recursos que puedan necesitar”, dijo Yang Rohr. “Animo a las organizaciones locales a que reserven una mesa y a que la comunidad salga si tienen alguna pregunta sobre los recursos disponibles”.
