DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — DuPage County Board Member Sheila Rutledge has announced her resignation, effective at the close of the board’s meeting on August 26, 2025. Rutledge, a Democrat representing District 6—which includes West Chicago—has served on the board since 2018 and currently holds leadership roles as Chair of the Environmental Committee and co-Chair of the Affordable Housing Solutions Committee.
Her departure comes after a successful bid in April for Winfield Township Supervisor. In a public statement, County officials thanked Rutledge for her years of service and extended well wishes as she transitions to her new role in township government.
Board Chair Deborah Conroy will appoint Rutledge’s successor with the advice and consent of the County Board. By law, the new appointee must belong to the same political party—in this case, Democratic—and reside within District 6. The appointed member will serve the remainder of Rutledge’s term, which ends on December 7, 2026.
Residents of District 6, which includes the City of West Chicago, who are interested in filling the vacancy are encouraged to submit a resume and a letter of interest (maximum 300 words) to Chair Conroy via email at chair@dupagecounty.gov. Submissions are due no later than 4:30 p.m. on June 20, 2025. A map of district boundaries is available on the DuPage County website for those unsure of their eligibility.

Sheila Rutledge renunciará a la Junta del Condado de DuPage tras ser elegida como Supervisora del Municipio

CONDADO DE DUPAGE, IL — La miembro de la Junta del Condado de DuPage, Sheila Rutledge, anunció su renuncia, que será efectiva al cierre de la reunión de la Junta del Condado el 26 de agosto de 2025. Rutledge, una demócrata que representa al Distrito 6—el cual incluye a West Chicago—ha servido en la Junta desde 2018 y actualmente se desempeña como presidenta del Comité de Medio Ambiente y copresidenta del Comité de Soluciones de Vivienda Asequible.
Su salida se produce tras ganar las elecciones en abril como Supervisora del Municipio de Winfield. En una declaración pública, los funcionarios del condado agradecieron a Rutledge por sus años de servicio y le desearon lo mejor en esta nueva etapa de su carrera.
La presidenta de la Junta, Deborah Conroy, nombrará a su sucesor con el asesoramiento y consentimiento de la Junta del Condado.
