If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to climb trees for a living—or if you simply enjoy tacos—Thatcher Woods is the place to be this September.
On Friday, September 12, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Openlands will host the Trees and Tacos Arboricultural Career Fair and Networking Event, offering community members the chance to explore careers in arboriculture while enjoying hands-on activities and free food.
The event will feature tree walks, a tree climbing station, and demonstrations of professional equipment used by arborists in their work caring for and maintaining urban forests. Attendees will be able to meet with professionals in the field, learn about pathways into green careers, and connect with organizations working to protect and expand the region’s tree canopy.
And for those who need another reason to stop by? Free tacos will be served to the first 100 attendees.
Organizers say the event is designed to highlight the growing demand for skilled arborists, a career that combines outdoor adventure with environmental stewardship. “This is a chance to get hands-on experience and talk directly with people who are doing the work every day,” said an Openlands representative.
The Trees and Tacos career fair is free to attend, but registration is encouraged. Interested participants can sign up at bit.ly/47bjEm5.
