West Chicago Fire Department: Structure Fire 400 Block Ann Street

On Sunday, August 24, 2025, at approximately 12:02 a.m., the West Chicago Fire Protection District responded to a report of a kitchen fire in the 400 block of West Ann Street. Firefighters arrived to find the homeowner outside the residence with injuries related to the fire. He was treated by paramedics and transported to a local hospital for further care.

Crews entered the home and found fire on the back porch floor, with additional spot fires in the kitchen area. The fire was quickly extinguished, limiting damage to the back porch and kitchen. The home was deemed uninhabitable until repairs could be made.
An investigation determined that the fire was accidental. No other injuries were reported. The West Chicago Police Department and numerous surrounding Fire Departments assisted the West Chicago Fire Protection District with this incident.
The Fire District reminds residents to exercise caution when handling flammable products in the home and to ensure that smoke detectors are properly installed and functioning.
