DuPage County Animal Services is shining the spotlight this week on Jake and Rex, two adorable 10-year-old Coton de Tulear brothers who are ready to bring double the love to a lucky family.
These fluffy 10-pound gentlemen came to the shelter as an owner surrender on October 29, after living a well-loved life together. Both are neutered, regularly groomed, and have been kept up to date on their vet care — a true testament to how well their previous owner cared for them.
Jake, the more active and playful of the pair, loves being by your side and seeks affection. Rex, while still friendly and social, is a bit more independent — the perfect balance to Jake’s energy. Both have spent plenty of time around children and are known to be gentle and loving companions, especially with grandkids.
They’re crate trained, though they prefer the comfort of a cozy bed next to their person at night. Both boys are housetrained to use pee pads or go outside, and their prior owner occasionally used belly bands when they were left alone. They’re friendly with other dogs and were regulars at doggy daycare, where they thrived in social settings.
Their behavior on leash is described as easygoing and well-mannered — making them ideal for leisurely strolls or backyard playtime. Their comfort level with cats is currently unknown.
Jake and Rex are a bonded pair who have spent their lives side by side, so Animal Services hopes to find them a home where they can stay together. After all, the only thing better than one loving dog is two!

DuPage County Animal Services destaca esta semana a Jake y Rex, dos adorables hermanos de la raza Coton de Tulear de 10 años que están listos para llenar de amor a la familia afortunada que los adopte.
Estos caballeros peludos de 10 libras llegaron al refugio el 29 de octubre como entrega voluntaria de su dueño, después de haber llevado una vida llena de cariño. Ambos están castrados, han sido bien cuidados, se mantienen al día con sus visitas veterinarias y se nota que recibieron mucha atención y amor.
Jake, el más activo y juguetón de los dos, adora estar a tu lado y busca cariño constantemente. Rex, aunque también es amigable y sociable, es un poco más independiente — el equilibrio perfecto para la energía de Jake. Ambos han pasado mucho tiempo con niños y se destacan por ser compañeros dulces y pacientes, especialmente con los nietos de su antiguo dueño.
Están entrenados para dormir en una jaula, aunque prefieren el confort de una cama cálida al lado de su persona favorita. Son limpios dentro de casa y usan almohadillas para orinar o salen al patio. Su anterior dueño usaba bandas para el vientre cuando los dejaba solos. Son perros muy sociales y acostumbrados a convivir con otros canes; incluso asistían regularmente a una guardería para perros, donde disfrutaban jugar con otros amigos peludos.
Ambos se comportan muy bien con la correa, lo que los convierte en excelentes compañeros para caminatas tranquilas o juegos al aire libre. Su comportamiento con gatos es desconocido por el momento.
Jake y Rex son una pareja muy unida que ha pasado toda su vida juntos, por lo que el refugio espera encontrar un hogar donde puedan seguir inseparables. Después de todo, ¡no hay nada mejor que recibir el doble de amor!
