Winfield Township Recycling Event

Rain or shine, the Winfield Township Road district is hosting a recycling event on Saturday, September 30 between 9:00 am and noon. The event will take place at their facility located at 30W575 Roosevelt Road, West Chicago.

Services offered during the event will include:

  • Proshred Security will be on-site to provide document shredding for all your confidential documents and paperwork. Residents can have up to 4 banker’s boxes of documents shredded at the event free of charge  Certain restrictions apply: no binders, staples, hardcovers, etc. Partial funding for this has been provided by DuPage County.
  • Clothing and shoes can be recycled in drop-off bins provided by USAgain. Each bin filled will plant a tree. There are collection bins normally at the Township office on Arbor Avenue and the Road District facility also.
  • Epaint recycling will be available in person at the event. They’ll be collecting (For a fee) Latex paint. Cash or credit card will be accepted and the payment portal provided by Epaint.
  • Township personnel will also be accepting donations for Family Food Pantries to help combat local food insecurity.
  • For a $15 per car fee, electronic devices will be accepted. Cash or credit (Credit is a 3% fee). No checks
  • Various other things such as cooking oil and radiators (see infographic for all materials they’ll take)
  • For a $1 per can fee, they will accept flat cans such as aerosol cans and spray paint. Some restrictions apply such as oven cleaners, expanding foam, adhesives, pepper spray or self-defense sprays, and others.
  • Household batteries will be taken at a fee of $4.00/Pound

Winfield Township Recycling Event

The following items are excluded and will not be accepted: Hazardous waste, items containing mercury, explosives, firecrackers, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, fluorescent bulbs, refrigerators, motor oil, tires, smoke detectors, and televisions with broken screens.

Winfield Township is located in DuPage County, Illinois. Winfield Township is comprised of most of West Chicago, Winfield, and Warrenville and includes small sections of Wheaton, Naperville, Aurora, and Batavia. The purpose of the township is for general assistance, property tax assessments, and road maintenance, as required by statute and policies.
