According to the DuPage County Health Department, there has been a continued increase in mosquitoes testing positive for the West Nile virus within our region.
Although it is beginning to feel like fall, the City encourages residents to continue to stay safe outdoors by protecting themselves from mosquito bites and the risk of contracting the virus by practicing the four D’s of defense.
• Drain: Drain items that collect standing water outside your home.
• Defend: Use an insect repellant containing DEET when outdoors.
• Dress: Wear long pants, long sleeves, and closed-toe shoes when outside.
• Dusk to Dawn: Wear repellant outdoors during these prime times for mosquito activity.
