City crews will be performing fire hydrant flushing beginning the week of October 9 through the end of the month, weather permitting. Signs will be posted prior to flushing in areas as crews perform this essential maintenance.
Hydrant flushing maintains West Chicago’s water distribution system and assures proper operation of hydrants in the event of an emergency. Unfortunately, discolored water can result. Even when flushing is not being done in the immediate area, discolored water can occur. This discoloration poses no health risk. However, please check the water before washing laundry. If laundry staining occurs, do not dry the affected clothing.
