House Tour: Winter Holidays in the 1890s

for a guided tour of the 1890s farmhouse focusing on winter holiday traditions. Learn how farm families decorated the tree, exchanged gifts, and prepared food for the holidays. Suggested admission donation of $5 per person ages 3 and up to enter the farm. All ages. Free. No registration. Questions? Call 630-876-5900.

Winter Solstice Sunrise Hike

Dec 21, 6:45-7:45 am

Hike atop Mount Hoy for a well-deserved look at the solstice sunrise. Learn about early morning wildlife and the secrets of the solstice, and relax as we welcome the first day of winter. Ages 12 and up; under 18 with an adult. $10 per person. Register online or at 630-942-6200.

Forest Preserve Location:Blackwell Forest Preserve 

The main entrance is on the north side of Butterfield Road 0.25 mile west of Winfield Road.

The McKee Marsh parking lot is on the north side of Mack Road east of Route 59.

The off-leash dog area is on the south side of Mack Road east of Route 59.
