West Chicago, December 12, 2023 -St. Michael’s United Church of Christ recently hosted a heartwarming coat drive, aiming to provide warmth and comfort to the littlest members of the West Chicago community. The initiative successfully collected over 70 coats, which will be distributed among children enrolled in West Chicago School District 33’s 0-3 year old early childhood education program.
As the winter season approaches, St. Michael’s United Church of Christ recognized the importance of ensuring that the tiniest members in the community stay snug during the cold weather. With the generous support of local residents and church members, the coat drive was able to gather an impressive number of coats for those in need.
But this act of kindness is not just a one-time occurrence. St. Michael’s United Church of Christ goes above and beyond to serve the community by hosting a community clothing closet. Located in the basement of the Rockwell building, situated behind the church at 108 Sherman St., the clothing closet offers residents the opportunity to choose up to five items of clothing per person.
The clothing closet operates on the second Saturday of each month, welcoming visitors from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. (Next date : January 13, 2024) This regular schedule ensures that individuals facing financial hardships have access to essential clothing items throughout the year.
