Released on December 5, the 2023-24 Best Hospitals for Maternity Care rankings highlighted the exceptional quality of maternal healthcare provided by these esteemed medical centers in Illinois. Out of the 26 hospitals recognized for their commitment to excellence in obstetrics, Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital stands proudly among the top-performing institutions.
According to a recent report by U.S. News & Report, a comprehensive evaluation of 680 hospitals across the United States was conducted to identify the leading facilities for obstetric care. The report serves as a valuable resource for parents who are making decisions about where to have their baby.
Each hospital included in the survey received a detailed scorecard that outlined its performance concerning specific criteria that parents typically consider when selecting a delivery location. The top-performing hospitals in the survey were those that achieved a “high-performing” designation for their exceptional care of patients with uncomplicated pregnancies. Jennifer Winston, a health data scientist at US News, emphasized that these high-performing hospitals demonstrated a cesarean section rate of 26 percent or less, as well as a neonatal complication rate of 37 percent or less. This indicates their dedication to providing safe and high-quality care to both mothers and infants. In addition to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva, several other hospitals in the Illinois area were recognized for their outstanding performance in obstetrics.
Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, and Northwestern Medicine hospitals in McHenry, Huntley, and Woodstock all received high-performing designations, making them trusted options for expectant parents in the region.
