Healthy West Chicago, a collaboration of community leaders in local government, education, healthcare, social services, faith-based congregations, businesses, and non-profit organizations who have organized to increase nutrition and physical activity in the City of West Chicago.
The non-profit organization was formalized in 2014 through funding from a grant from Northwestern Medicine (formerly Cadence Health) and supplemental support from WeGo Together for Kids through their partnership with the United Way of DuPage/West Cook.
Healthy West Chicago is dedicated to increasing healthy eating and physical activity in the City of West Chicago through the development of engaging programs and events, the creation and promotion of health-related community resources, and advocating for health-related policy efforts.
With a motto of : “We aim to make the healthy choice, the easy choice.”, they will be offering free Winter Wellness Programming.
They’ll be offering a virtual cooking class featuring a veggie and rice stir fry on Wednesday, January 17 at 6pm.
The West Chicago Public Library will be the site of a free herb gardening class from Health West Chicago. This class will take place, January 24 between 7:00-8:00 pm.

A program that will feature brief presentation & education on types of herbs, a demo on planting them in small containers, recipes that feature herbs to be distributed.
Attendees will be able to choose 2-3 herbs to plant in peat pots to bring home.
