City of Geneva Seeking Water Treatment Operator

The City of Geneva is seeking a full-time Water Treatment Operator to join our growing team in the Public Works Department. Reporting directly to the Water Supply and Treatment Supervisor, this position operates and maintains a state-of-the-art reverse osmosis membrane water treatment facility. Daily operations include deep and shallow wells, domestic production facilities, and water storage and pumping facilities. This vital position ensures the safe and efficient delivery of clean water to customers.

Requirements include a high school diploma, Illinois Environmental Protection Agency Class A Water Operators Certification, or Operator-in-Training Certification (if not obtained by hire date, candidate must be willing to obtain within specified time frame), and Illinois Commercial Driver’s License Class B (within one year of hire). Ideal candidates will have a minimum of three years’ experience in a municipal water treatment facility. Candidates with combinations of education, training and experience which could enable them to successfully perform the essential duties of the job will also be considered.

Special Requirements

All full-time Public Works Department employees must live within 16 miles of the corporate limits (straight-line) of the City within one year of employment. The position requires the ability to respond to after-hour emergency calls and perform on-call responsibilities.
