David L, “Skip” Higgins, 92, of Winfield, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024. Beloved husband of the late Alice J. Higgins for 62 years; loving father of Becci (Jeff) Naatz, Denise (Tom) Ralph and Michele (the late Jeff) Conn; cherished grandfather of Tim (Priscilla) Naatz, Heather Conn, Dan (Amy) Naatz, Lauren Miner (Patrick) and Danielle (Cody) Wilson. Dear son of the late Richard and Leona Higgins. Loving brother to Richard “Buzz”, and the late Philip “Bunk”, Sandra “Honey” Brass. Uncle to many loving Nieces and Nephews. Skip served in the Air Force in the Korean War from 1951-1955. Skip joined the Winfield Fire Protection District in 1955 and served as the Fire Chief for several years before retiring in 1991. He was a long-time member of the Winfield Lions Club as well as St. John the Baptist Church. His career was spent working in the Lumber business.
