Anderson Humane Hosts 2024 Gala Featuring Temple Grandin

Sharing is Caring, WeGo!

2024 Gala, Better Together: Animals In Translation

More than 275 attendees turned out to support Anderson Humane’s 12th Annual Gala, Better Together: Animals In Translation. The Gala is our largest fundraiser of the year to benefit domestic and wild animals and the people who love them. Dean Daubert, Anderson Humane CEO and event master of ceremonies was joined onstage by guest speaker, Dr. Temple Grandin.

The presentation of the Ruth & Ivar Anderson Founder’s Award for long-standing and meritorious philanthropic support of the organization recognized this year’s recipient, Sharon O’Bryan. Our Animal Welfare Award, which recognizes an individual or organization whose contributions positively impact animal welfare, was given to Cathy Murphy, owner of The Puddle, in South Elgin. Our Purple Paw Animal Award recipient was therapy dog, Julia, who was accompanied by her handlers, Terri Albright and Karen Stout.

The main event kicked off at 5:30 pm for the cocktail reception, where guests sampled butler-passed hors d’oeuvres, enjoyed live piano music provided by Thomas Hartnett, posed for pictures with our Pushmi Pullyu courtesy of Stoked Graphics, and sipped signature cocktails courtesy of bar sponsor, Liam Dixon.

As guests moved into the Ballroom for a sit-down dinner, they were treated to the insight of Dr. Temple Grandin on how to recognize and read animal communication cues. Fundraising highlights during the program included live and silent auctions presided over by MegaEvents auctioneer, Mike Namoff. Moving stories of domestic and wild animals successfully journeying through Anderson Humane from intake through adoption/release were also shared. After the Gala, attendees enjoyed photo opportunities, cocktails, dinner and a Treat Bar provided by Carousel Candies.
