Two people are dead following a traffic crash that happened on Friday evening in unincorporated West Chicago, authorities said.
The office of the DuPage County Coroner, Richard Jorgensen confirmed the identities of the decedents as Isaias Flores, 27 of West Chicago, and Riley C. Smith, 21 of Carol Stream.
The crash was reported at around 7:30 p.m. near North Avenue and St. Charles Road near the border of West Chicago and Carol Stream. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene according to the Carol Stream Fire Protection District. The DuPage County coroner was dispatched to the scene to assist.
In a Friday night Facebook post, officials from the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office urged drivers to avoid the area near North Avenue and St. Charles Road in West Chicago for two hours due to the two-vehicle crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Du Page County Sheriff’s Office and no further information is available about the details of the crash as of the publication of this article.
