Residents of Carol Stream expressed outrage and frustration Thursday following the decision by the Page County State’s Attorney not to pursue charges against the officer involved in the fatal shooting of Isaac Goodlow. Goodlow, who was unarmed, was shot in his apartment bedroom during a police response to a reported domestic violence incident earlier this year.

A demonstration erupted at the intersection of Gary and North Avenues, where a group of protesters gathered to voice their dissent. The protest, aimed at the state’s attorney’s decision, led to several arrests as demonstrators blocked traffic in Carol Stream.

Officer Daniel Pfingston, identified as the shooter, is no longer employed by the Carol Stream Police Department. Despite this, the community remains deeply affected by the incident, with many questioning the circumstances surrounding Goodlow’s death.

In response to the state’s attorney’s statement that the evidence did not support criminal charges, protesters emphasized the need for accountability and justice. Isaac Goodlow’s family has already initiated a federal civil suit against Carol Stream and the officers involved, alleging violations of Goodlow’s constitutional rights.
