Brian P. Smidesang, age 54, a resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024. He was born October 17, 1969 in Moline, IL to Wayne & Nancy Smidesang.
Brian lived in Broken Arrow, OK, from the time he was 3 years old until he was 14. His family moved back to Moline, where he attended Moline High School. He attended Blackhawk College for two years and finished his degree at Bradley University in Electronics Technology. He worked for Automation Solutions of America for the past 20 years. He loved his job and he loved people, and his kind spirit and concern for others have impacted many across the country through his travels for work.
He loved spending time with his family, and enjoyed serving as an usher at College Church for several years. He also enjoyed watching the Bears, and doing woodworking projects, including making wooden longbows with other dads and their kids. He participated in a men’s Neighborhood Bible Study, and loved telling dad jokes. Brian loved spending time outdoors with his family, biking, hiking in the Arboretum, and camping. Most importantly, he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and wanted everyone to know Him.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years Michelle; his children Bradley & Alyssa; his mother Nancy; his sister Jane (Willard) Lazar & his brother Steve; his mother & father-in-law Cynthia & David Roberts; his brothers & sisters-in-law: Christa (Everett) Vander Horst, Brian Roberts, and Leanne (Jason) Rolland. He is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Wayne.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at College Church in Wheaton, 332 E. Seminary Ave., Wheaton, IL 60187, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6:00 p.m. There will be a light reception following the service. Relatives & friends are invited to meet directly at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, 4101 S. Oak Park Ave., Stickney, IL 60402, on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
