West Chicago Community High School is gearing up for a fairy-tale week with its highly anticipated Homecoming 2024, themed “Once Upon a Time.” The week-long celebration promises to be filled with spirit, excitement, and magical memories for students, staff, and the community.
The festivities kick off on Monday, October 14, with Columbus Day marking no school for students. However, the action will begin later that evening with the Homecoming Soccer Game at 6:30 p.m., where students will gather to cheer on their Wildcats.
Tuesday, October 15, will bring even more school spirit with a Volleyball Game at 5:30 p.m., followed by an outdoor movie night at 7:00 p.m. on the football field. Students are invited to bring their blankets and snacks as they enjoy a classic film under the stars.
On Wednesday, October 16, the excitement continues with BPA’s Dodgeball Tournament at 6:00 p.m. This student-favorite event will have participants battling it out for dodgeball supremacy, with the whole school rallying behind their teams.
Friday, October 18, is packed with activities from morning to night. The day starts with the Homecoming Pep Assembly from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., where school pride will be on full display. Following the assembly is the FoodFest from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., a time for students to enjoy delicious bites and fuel up for the rest of the day’s events.
The Homecoming Parade will march through town from 12:45 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., showcasing floats and performances that embody this year’s magical theme. Afterward, the traditional Powderpuff Game takes place from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., with juniors and seniors battling it out on the field. The day’s events conclude with the big Homecoming Football Game at 7:00 p.m., as the Wildcats take on their rivals, with the whole town expected to come out and support the team.
The grand finale of Homecoming Week will be the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 19, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium. With a “Once Upon a Time” theme, the dance promises to be a night of enchantment as students dance the night away and create lasting memories.
