The National Association of Counties (NACo) EDGE announced DuPage County won the Excellence in Strategic Planning Award for 2024. The award recognizes counties that have created and communicated a thoughtful and comprehensive annual strategic plan to help improve the services and infrastructure they provide to their constituents.
DuPage County is one of four inaugural winners of the award, along with Buncombe County, North Carolina; Citrus County, Florida; and Harris County, Precinct 2, Texas.
“This award reflects the collaboration between County leaders and residents in developing a strategic plan that defines our mission and vision and guides our daily work to better serve the people of DuPage County,” said Chair Deborah Conroy.
According to NACo, DuPage County demonstrated excellence in clearly defining its mission, vision, and values. DuPage County received an outstanding rating in communicating their strategic planning process with their community, leveraging a variety of tactics for community engagement including public meetings, social media, in-person events, emails, and community partners.
“From the beginning, we wanted to engage residents with a process that was transparent and inclusive,” said Strategic Planning Committee Chair Sadia Covert. “This award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of everyone involved in creating the strategic plan. We are proud of this achievement and remain committed to continuous improvement that will benefit our County.”
