West Chicago, IL – The City of West Chicago’s Infrastructure Committee is set to convene on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers to discuss a range of critical infrastructure and public works projects. The meeting will include reviewing resolutions for roadway improvements, water system upgrades, and funding appropriations for essential maintenance.
The committee will begin with a call to order, roll call, and approval of minutes from the December 5, 2024, meeting before opening the floor for public participation.
Among the key items on the agenda is Resolution No. 25-R-0001, which proposes hiring Layne Company for professional services related to the Well Station No. 12 Rehabilitation Project, with costs not to exceed $339,935.00. This project is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to ensure clean and reliable water access for residents.
Several resolutions related to motor fuel tax funding allocations will also be considered. Resolutions 25-R-0003 through 25-R-0006 involve the appropriation of state motor fuel tax funds for general maintenance and roadway rehabilitation, covering both fiscal year 2025 and final expenditure statements for FY 2024.
The Harvester Road Reconstruction Project, completed in 2024, will also be reviewed, with Resolution No. 25-R-0007 serving as the final report on expenditures for this significant infrastructure upgrade.
Another major topic is the Town Road Reconstruction and Resurfacing Project, with the committee considering Resolution No. 25-R-0008 to approve Phase III construction engineering services by Gonzalez Companies, LLC, at a cost of $209,511.00. Additionally, Resolution No. 25-R-0009 seeks authorization for a joint funding agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT)to secure federal construction funding for this project.
A significant budget allocation will be discussed in Resolution No. 25-R-0010, which proposes awarding a $1,699,698.00 contract to C. Szabo Contracting, Inc. for the 2025 Bishop Street and Brown Street Water Main and Street Rehabilitation Project. This project is part of the city’s long-term plan to modernize its water infrastructure and improve road conditions.
Additional agenda items include contract approvals for electricity supply to the city’s water treatment plant, well stations, and sanitary lift stations (Resolution No. 25-R-0011), the 2025 Spring Parkway Tree Planting Program (Resolution No. 25-R-0012), and engineering design services for the 2026 Industrial Streets Improvement Project (Resolution No. 25-R-0013).
Following the discussion of these resolutions, the committee will open the floor for new business and staff reports before adjourning the meeting.
