WEST CHICAGO, IL — In celebration of Earth Day 2025, local residents are invited to roll up their sleeves and make a difference as part of the Illinois Prairie Path Annual Trail Cleanup, scheduled for Saturday, April 26, at 9 a.m.
Residents of West Chicago is joining communities across DuPage County to help clean all 62 miles of the trail system. Local organizers are seeking volunteers to participate in this hands-on event aimed at keeping area paths clean, safe, and beautiful. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up through ipp.org/cleanup and select one of several West Chicago trail locations to serve.
Site options in West Chicago include:
- Kress Road
- Prince Crossing & Great Western Trail
- Reed Keppler Park
- Rt 59 & North Avenue
- Winfield Mounds
Those who sign up are asked to list which location they plan to volunteer at to aid in coordination efforts. While the general start time is 9 a.m., organizers note that exact meeting times and details will be confirmed by each site coordinator.
This annual cleanup coincides with Earth Day, observed globally on April 22, and reflects this year’s theme: “Our Power, Our Planet.” Local leaders hope that residents will come together in the spirit of sustainability to make a visible impact in their community.
