In the early hours of the morning, a dramatic rescue unfolded in a quiet West Chicago neighborhood when a mother duck’s distress call led to the discovery that her eight ducklings had fallen into a storm drain.
Around 1:00 a.m., West Chicago police officers on night patrol were alerted to the scene by concerned residents who spotted the frantic mama duck pacing near a drain. Upon investigation, officers realized the ducklings had become trapped below street level and quickly called in reinforcements.
Working together, officers from the West Chicago Police Department and members of the West Chicago Fire Protection District sprang into action. With teamwork and care, responders lifted the storm drain cover and retrieved the ducklings safely.
Thanks to the quick response and compassion of first responders, the mother duck was reunited with her babies, and the feathered family waddled away together into the night.

Alrededor de la 1:00 a.m., oficiales del Departamento de Policía de West Chicago que patrullaban durante el turno nocturno fueron avisados por residentes preocupados que vieron a la pata caminando nerviosamente cerca de una alcantarilla. Al investigar, los oficiales descubrieron que los patitos estaban atrapados debajo del nivel de la calle y rápidamente solicitaron refuerzos.
