In the early hours of July 13, 2025, firefighters from the West Chicago Fire Protection District responded to a structure fire in the 100 block of Conde Street. The call came in around 12:10 a.m., prompting a swift response to a converted single-family home that had been divided into two separate living units.
Upon arrival, firefighters found all residents safely outside the building, though one individual was reportedly seen attempting to reenter. Fire personnel quickly secured the scene and confirmed everyone was out of harm’s way. A small fire was located inside and was rapidly brought under control.
According to Fire Chief Jeffery M. Keefe, no injuries were reported among residents or firefighters. One individual was displaced due to fire-related damage, while other occupants were able to return to the unaffected portion of the home. Although the cause of the fire was determined on scene, the DuPage County Arson Task Force was requested to investigate the incident further. Chief Keefe clarified that the task force is a routine, standard cooperative group of police and fire agencies in DuPage County that investigates the causes of fires.
