No Explosives Found; Investigation Ongoing
CAROL STREAM, IL — A reported bomb threat at the Woodspring Suites on Gary Avenue prompted an emergency response and full evacuation Wednesday evening, just down the road from West Chicago.
According to the Carol Stream Police Department, officers were dispatched to the hotel at approximately 6:15 p.m. on July 16 following the report of a potential explosive threat. Upon arrival, they worked with on-site staff and the Carol Stream Fire Protection District to safely clear the building of all occupants.
As a precaution, police also closed both lanes of Gary Avenue in front of the hotel to protect motorists and facilitate emergency operations.
The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad conducted a comprehensive sweep of the premises. No explosives were found, and once safety was assured, hotel guests were allowed to return to their rooms. No injuries were reported.
Multiple agencies responded to the incident, including officers from the Bloomingdale, Glendale Heights, and Bartlett Police Departments. Authorities credit their combined effort for ensuring the swift and safe resolution of the event.

Según informó el Departamento de Policía de Carol Stream, los oficiales fueron enviados al hotel alrededor de las 6:15 p.m. del 16 de julio tras recibir el reporte de una posible amenaza de explosivo. Al llegar, trabajaron junto al personal del hotel y el Distrito de Protección contra Incendios de Carol Stream para evacuar el edificio de manera segura.
Como medida de precaución, la policía también cerró ambos carriles de la avenida Gary frente al hotel para proteger a los automovilistas y facilitar el trabajo de los equipos de emergencia.
El escuadrón antibombas de la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de DuPage realizó una inspección exhaustiva del lugar. No se encontraron explosivos, y una vez garantizada la seguridad, se permitió que los huéspedes regresaran a sus habitaciones. No se reportaron heridos durante el incidente.
