The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the West Chicago area, in effect until 12 a.m. CDT Wednesday. Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible through late tonight.
Impacted Areas: Portions of northeast Illinois, including DuPage County, as well as parts of Central, Northern, and Southern Cook, Eastern and Northern Will Counties, and northwest Indiana.
Timing: The watch remains in effect through tonight, ending at midnight.
What to Expect: Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks, and flooding could occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Underpasses, roads, and streets may be inundated. Showers and thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening, with atmospheric conditions favorable for rainfall rates of 1–2 inches per hour. Recent rainfall has already elevated near-surface soil moisture in some areas, increasing the risk of flooding. Urban land cover in the West Chicago area can also contribute to rapid runoff.

Flash flooding is a dangerous situation. Residents with property near rivers, creeks, and other waterways should monitor forecasts closely and be prepared to take immediate action if flooding develops.

El Servicio Nacional de Meteorología ha emitido una Vigilancia de Inundaciones para el área de West Chicago, en efecto hasta las 12 a.m. CDT del miércoles. Existe la posibilidad de inundaciones repentinas causadas por lluvias excesivas durante lo que resta de esta noche.
Áreas Afectadas: Porciones del noreste de Illinois, incluyendo el condado de DuPage, así como partes de los condados Central, Norte y Sur de Cook, Este y Norte de Will, y el noroeste de Indiana.
