As the 2025 high school football season approaches, West Chicago Community High School Head Football Coach Adam Chavez is keeping his team’s sights firmly on the present. Rather than projecting long-term outcomes, Chavez says the focus is on attacking each practice with intensity and precision. “We try and focus on the here and now,” he explained. “Our goal is to go 1-0 each week. If we do that, everything else will fall into place.”
The Wildcats enter the season with a solid core of returning athletes, led by two-year starter Carter Naranjo, who Chavez describes as the driving force behind the team’s efforts. Up front, Ean Arizmendi and Luis Rubio are expected to anchor the offensive line, while the defense will benefit from the leadership and experience of Roman Zolota, David Weber, Jayden Rosario, Daniel Papp, Emanuel Lopez, and Mike Jimenez. “I’m really excited for the defense, which returns our whole front seven,” Chavez said.
There have also been key additions to the coaching staff, with Jason Sennese and Justin Hocker joining the program. Chavez says both bring valuable experience and will make an impact on both sides of the ball.
When it comes to improving from last season, Chavez is clear that no aspect of the game is off-limits. “We need improvement in all three phases,” he said. “We constantly look at what we do and tweak and change things.” The coaching staff even traveled to Baylor University in Waco, Texas, this spring for a clinic aimed at refining their strategies and strengthening the program.
The 2025 schedule mirrors last year’s, with matchups flipped between home and away. The Wildcats will face a strong mix of 5A to 8A schools. “We won’t take anyone lightly and will prepare each week as if it is a playoff game,” Chavez emphasized.
With veteran leadership, new coaching talent, and an unrelenting focus on weekly progress, the Wildcats are aiming to make every game count this fall.
