West Chicago drivers are facing delays this afternoon after a paint spill created hazardous roadway conditions near Illinois Route 59 and Garys Mill Road.
Police report that several lane closures are now in effect to keep traffic moving safely while crews address the spill. Northbound Route 59 has been reduced to a single lane at Garys Mill Road, eastbound Garys Mill Road is fully closed, and the southbound Route 59 left-turn lane onto Garys Mill Road is shut down.
Motorists traveling through the area should expect congestion and are encouraged to allow extra travel time or seek alternate routes until the roadway is cleared.
The West Chicago Police Department has assured residents that updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
