The West Chicago Professional Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 397, announced the passing of former union president Lt. Rick Michael. Michael was instrumental in establishing the first firefighters’ union chapter in West Chicago, serving as the founding charter president when Local 397 was formed in 1999.
Over his 35-year career, Lt. Michael devoted himself to serving the citizens of West Chicago and to strengthening the voice and unity of his fellow firefighters. He retired in June 2016.
Local 397 members expressed deep appreciation for his leadership and lasting impact, extending heartfelt condolences to the Michael family.
