Update 08-21-23: Excessive heat will continue in the West Chicago area until Thursday, August 24. Heat values are expected to be around the 110 -115 degree range. High humidity will complicate things, according to the National Weather Service. An excessive heat watch has already been issued starting Wednesday morning through Thursday evening for McHenry, Lake, DuPage and Cook counties. The weather serviceadvised it will be “dangerously hot” and heat index values up to 115 are possible.
A heat advisory has been issued for West Chicago (DuPage County) for Sunday, August 20 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
What: Peak heat values are expected to reach 103-107 degrees (F)
When: Sunday August 21,2023 , 1:00-8:00 p.m.
High temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur.
Stay hydrated and indoors if at all possible.
