Sharing is Caring, WeGo!

A new player could enter the Chicago area grocery store market. The merger between grocery giants Albertsons and Kroger is close to complete. Albertsons is the parent company of Jewel- Osco and Kroger owner Mariano’s and Food For Less stores in the Chicago area. Reuters reports the $24.5 billion merger agreement calls for the combined company to sell more than 400 grocery stores to C&S Wholesale Grocers for nearly $2 billion. C&S is the parent company of Piggly Wiggly, which has dozens of locations across Wisconsin. The deal still requires regulatory approval. It is unknown if the merger is approved whether or not it will affect the West Chicago Jewel-Osco store located at 177 Roosevelt Rd.
