Kane Area Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education in nearby St. Charles is one of only a few organizations with a permit to treat and rehabilitate young deer. They’ve been helping and working hard all Spring and Summer to get the little ones self sufficient and able to survive in nature on their own. They’ve dedicated months to nursing and caring for them with a goal of releasing them back into nature. Most were orphaned. The month long fawn release has been going on for weeks. Always released in groups, their herd is settling in at their 2 release sites.
Huge private property way out in the outlying Kane County in addition to the Open Spaces property in Campton Hills.

Fawns they’ve been treating have had many injuries and issues this year. Members of their organization agree, fawns have to be one of the most labor intensive orphans to raise. From time to cost, White Tail deer are a 6 plus month long project. As the only facility in Kane County taking fawns, they were overwhelmed . Deer require a special permit, special set up and care. The first fawn arrived April 18th, the last arrived Aug 18th, and they still have 3 small fawn to release when they’re old enough.
