Since the publication of our article yesterday, the West Chicago Public Library District has now updated its “legal notice section “ and added two new legal notices to its website about an upcoming public hearing. The notices were prepared by Diane Kelsey, Secretary Board of Library Trustees.
The public hearing is in regards to a tax levy.
What is a tax levy?
A property tax levy is a “request” for property tax dollars for the subsequent fiscal year. The property tax levy is the beginning of the annual property tax cycle.

The library is asking for a 40.8% increase in taxes for West Chicago residents.
The public hearing will be held at the Library in the main meeting room on November 27th at 6:45 pm
The public is encouraged to attend and share their comments at the meeting. Whether or not this levy could be pushed as an item on an upcoming ballot is unknown.

Desde la publicación de nuestro artículo ayer, el Distrito de Bibliotecas Públicas de West Chicago actualizó su “sección de avisos legales” y agregó dos nuevos avisos legales a su sitio web sobre una próxima audiencia pública. Los avisos fueron preparados por Diane Kelsey, secretaria de la junta directiva de la biblioteca.
La audiencia pública es sobre un gravamen fiscal.
¿Qué es un gravamen fiscal?
Un gravamen de impuesto a la propiedad es una “solicitud” de dólares del impuesto a la propiedad para el año fiscal siguiente. La recaudación del impuesto a la propiedad es el comienzo del ciclo anual del impuesto a la propiedad.
A continuación se encuentran copias de estos avisos y se publican en su totalidad.
La biblioteca solicita un aumento del 40,8% en los impuestos para los residentes de West Chicago.
La audiencia pública se llevará a cabo en la Biblioteca en el salón principal de reuniones el 27 de noviembre a las 6:45 pm
Se anima al público a asistir y compartir sus comentarios en la reunión. Se desconoce si este impuesto podría o no incluirse en una próxima votación.
