NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING March 22, 2024 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Board of Education of West Chicago District 33, West Chicago, DuPage County, Illinois that a public hearing will be held in conjunction with the Regular Board meeting on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at Leman Middle School, 238 E. Hazel St., West Chicago, IL 60185. The hearing will be held in person. The purpose of the hearing is to seek comments from school personnel, parents, and other community members concerning the provision of School Code allowing for e-Learning days to be used in lieu of emergency days that need to be made up in the event schools are closed due to extreme weather or other emergencies as amended by the Public Act 101-0012. Section 5/10-20.56 of the School Code contains the minimum requirements to ensure staff and student participation in an e-Learning day will allow the day to be counted as a day of student attendance. The proposed e-Learning Plan is available for review on the Teaching and Learning page of the District website and will be included in the Board packet materials. Immediately following the public hearing, the Board will be asked to approve the e-Learning Plan for submission to the Regional Office of Education.
