Sunday evening, a small fire erupted in a building located at 116 Main Street in West Chicago, drawing an immediate response from local police and fire departments. Deputy Fire Chief Jeffrey Keefe confirmed that the fire originated in the attic of the building.
The incident, which occurred at the Good Morning Family Restaurant, affected two apartments situated above the establishment. Due to smoke and water damage, both the apartments and the restaurant have been deemed uninhabitable.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported as a result of the fire. However, the disruption caused by the incident is expected to have a significant impact on the affected businesses and residents in the area.
West Chicago Fire Department personnel are conducted an investigation into the cause of the fire and assessing the extent of the damage. The fire was not malicious in nature, As a precautionary measure, Main Street was temporarily closed off to throught traffic to ensure the safety of the public. Residents and local businesses were urged to exercise caution and cooperate with authorities as they navigated the area in light of the incident.
Five residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
