Sharon Ann Arwood (nee McFarland), affectionately known as Timi, passed away peacefully at home in West Chicago at the age of 81 on July 29, 2024. Timi’s vibrant spirit and warm smile will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Born on July 9, 1943, Timi was a lifelong resident of West Chicago and an integral part of the community she so cherished. She graduated from West Chicago Community High School in 1961, where she formed lifelong friendships and laid the foundation for her future endeavors. Her career spanned three decades at The Village of Winfield, where she worked from 1986 until her well-deserved retirement in 2016. Timi’s commitment to her work was paralleled only by her dedication to her colleagues and the countless lives she touched through her service.
As a dedicated Mom, Grandma, and Aunt, Timi is survived by her loving daughter, Kim (Brian) Verbout, and her adored granddaughter, Mackenzie Verbout, who brought immense joy and pride to her world. Timi’s family circle extended to her step-children, Jim (Terry) Arwood, Jr. and Chuck (Leah) Arwood, and step-grandchildren, Brinn and Shaye Arwood, all of whom she embraced with open arms and a full heart. Her sister, Joan (the late Donald) Turnquist, two nephews, Dan (Laurie) Turnquist and Tom Turnquist, along with many great-nieces and nephews, will fondly remember her nurturing presence and the special moments they shared.
Timi’s zest for life was evident in her love for bowling, a pastime she enjoyed for many years at We-Go Bowl with a close-knit group of family and friends. Her competitive spirit and infectious laughter often filled the lanes, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Traveling with “the girls” to Tunica, MS, was another of Timi’s favorite adventures. There, she thoroughly enjoyed the excitement of a casino and the simple pleasure of lounging by the pool, surrounded by her dearest friends.
Those who knew Timi would describe her as the epitome of friendliness, selflessness, and generosity. She had the rare ability to make everyone feel welcome, a testament to her genuine caring nature. Timi’s legacy of kindness and compassion will live on through the countless lives she touched.
As we bid farewell to Timi, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a woman dearly loved. Her journey was marked by the love she gave and the grace with which she carried herself, even in the face of Alzheimer’s Related Dementia. Timi’s spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, reminding us of the power of a friendly smile and a generous heart.
We take comfort in knowing that Timi’s story does not end with her passing but continues in the memories we hold dear and the love that will never fade. Her light will shine on in the hearts of those she loved and in the community that was her home. Rest in peace Mom, until we meet again.
