Lois Israel Obit Obituary Lois Moede Israel, (June 13, 1932-August 21, 2024) was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. After 92 years on earth, she is now spending eternity with her Lord. Born in Milwaukee, WI to Walter and Agnes Moede, she attended Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, IL. After teaching 1st and 2nd grades at her home church school in Milwaukee, she married Don Israel, a fellow teacher whom she met in college. Together Lois and Don raised four daughters, Doris, Phyllis, Kathy, and Paula, while living in Missouri, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and then back to Illinois, where they resided in the same house for 58 years. Lois’s greatest joys were her family, which also included grandchildren Matthew, Julia, Katie, and Jesse, and great-grandchildren Victor, Conrado, and Aria, and serving in her church with her true gift of hospitality. She loved reading (The Chronicles of Narnia), traveling (Great Smoky Mountains), and welcoming others into her home (for most of her later years, there was always family or friend living with them.) Lois was the center of our family and a blessing to all those who knew her. We are so grateful for her life and look forward to the day we will be together with her and all our loved ones who have gone to be with Jesus. A graveside service was held at Glen Oak Cemetery in West Chicago; a memorial service will be held at a later date. Lois’s heart was always for missions. Please make any donations in her honor to your local church’s missions ministry.
