Charles R. “Chuck” Brown, of Geneva, passed away on September 5, 2024, at the age of 87. He was born in Aurora, IL on February 9, 1937, to Verlin and Dorothy Brown. Chuck was united in marriage to Sandra Glasshagel on June 4, 1960. He graduated from Northrop Institute of Technology in 1963 with a bachelor’s degree in Aircraft Maintenance. Chuck went on to work as an inside salesman for Ryerson Steel, where he retired after a 30-year career. He is a former member of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Winfield, where he served in many leadership positions on the church council. After moving to Geneva, he became an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, where he enjoyed sharing his love of gardening throughout the church grounds. Chuck also had a lifelong passion for trains and airplanes. He enjoyed sharing his enthusiasm for aviation and railroading with his children and grandchildren throughout his life. Chuck was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather, and family was always his top priority.

Chuck is survived by his daughter, Lisa Swanson of Oswego, Illinois; son, Craig (Lynne) Brown of Palatine, Illinois; grandchildren, Michael Swanson, Anna Swanson, Ryan Brown, Drew Brown; sister, Gloria (JD) Allen; brothers, Floyd (Shirley) Brown and Verlin “Junior” (Maryanne) Brown; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of 62 years, Sandra Brown.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. and Main), West Chicago. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 101 S. 6th Ave., St. Charles. Interment will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Montgomery, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mark Lutheran Church, 101 S. Sixth Avenue, St. Charles, Illinois, 60174-2107 or Healthwealthfoundation.org, a non-profit organization that assists with medication co-pay for individuals with chronic or life-altering diseases.
