West Chicago, Illinois – Judge Jennifer Barron and Casa Michoacán present a Court & Legal Services Outreach Night on Wednesday, September 11th from 6-8pm at Casa Michoacan’s center on 900 Roosevelt Road, West Chicago. This event will feature presentations from the Chief Judge of the 18th Judicial Circuit, Bonnie Wheaton, Judge Barron, Judge Sandra Parga, Clerk of Court Candice Adams, DuPage County Board Member Greg Schwarze, Amber Moore of Prairie State Legal Services, Lynda Marquardt of DuPage Legal Aid, and other local nonprofits, such as DVSA Communities. The goal of the evening is to provide community members with information about free services available to county residents which they not otherwise be aware of.
Explaining why she organized the first event which was held in February of the year, Judge Barron said, “I have been involved with Casa Michoacan for some time, and when their Outreach Director, Maria Correa, told me that they needed a good way to provide information to residents, I thought bringing everyone together in one room might be the best solution.” Judge Barron, who was a long-time volunteer with Prairie State State Legal Services before becoming a judge, knew just who to call. “Our first event brought together court and county officials, as well as local nonprofits, and we were able to provide information to the hundreds of people who attended. We are hoping the second Outreach Night is even bigger and better!”
The event is free and open to the public. Presentations will be in English and Spanish.
West Chicago, Illinois – La jueza Jennifer Barron y Casa Michoacán presentan una Noche de Difusión de Servicios Legales y Judiciales el miércoles 11 de septiembre de 6 a 8 p.m. en el centro de Casa Michoacán en 900 Roosevelt Road, West Chicago. Este evento contará con presentaciones del Juez Principal del 18.° Circuito Judicial, Bonnie Wheaton, el Juez Barron, la Juez Sandra Parga, la Secretaria del Tribunal Candice Adams, el Miembro de la Junta del Condado de DuPage Greg Schwarze, Amber Moore de Prairie State Legal Services, Lynda Marquardt de DuPage Legal Aid y otras organizaciones locales sin fines de lucro, como DVSA Communities. El juez Barron, que fue voluntario durante mucho tiempo en los Servicios Legales Estatales de Prairie State antes de convertirse en juez, sabía exactamente a quién llamar. “Nuestro primer evento reunió a funcionarios judiciales y del condado, así como a organizaciones sin fines de lucro locales, y pudimos brindar información a los cientos de personas que asistieron. ¡Esperamos que la segunda Noche de Divulgación sea aún más grande y mejor!
