WEST CHICAGO, IL — As winter’s chill finally gives way to sunshine and blossoms, West Chicago is ready to welcome spring with its most colorful and beloved tradition: Blooming Fest.
Set for Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., this annual outdoor festival transforms downtown West Chicago into a vibrant, family-friendly street fair filled with sights, sounds, and scents of the season. Lining Main Street, Blooming Fest draws gardeners, makers, families, and neighbors out to celebrate the joy of spring in true small-town style.
One of the biggest draws is the West Chicago Garden Club’s annual plant sale, running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering flowers, veggies, and native plants ready for backyard beds and garden plots.
The heart of Blooming Fest lies in its community spirit—evident in the wide variety of local vendors, crafters, and artists showcasing handmade goods, jewelry, candles, home décor, and more. Visitors can browse dozens of booths while enjoying live entertainment on the main stage throughout the day, from mariachi and choirs to jugglers and musicians. Notable performers include Mary Macaroni and the Impastas, Leman Mariachi, the District 33 Choir, Crosstown Exotics, and singer-songwriter Katie Kostner.
Families with kids will love the kidZone, which features a petting zoo, face painting, balloon twisting, stilt walkers, bubbles, and hands-on activities from local organizations like WeGo Together for Kids, Educare of West DuPage, and the West Chicago Public Library. Children can participate in a sticker card activity and enter to win fun raffle prizes.
The food scene is just as festive, with vendors like Dave’s Holy Smokes BBQ, Cocina de Maria, Hello Boba, Kona Ice, Kool Kat Ice Cream, Kindred Coffee Roasters, Raised Bakery and Café, and many others offering everything from comfort food to sweet treats.

Additional booths include organizations like the West Chicago Sharks Swim Team, Scouting America, the Environmental Commission, and the American Legion Auxiliary, who will be handing out poppies in honor of Memorial Day.
