WHEATON, IL — If you’ve driven along Naperville Road near Seven Gables Park this week, chances are you’ve seen a stirring sight: row upon row of American flags waving in solemn tribute. The breathtaking display, part of the annual Wheaton Field of Honor, features 2,000 American flags lined up in perfect symmetry — each one representing a soldier, veteran, first responder, or local hero.
The Field of Honor runs through Friday, July 4, and has quickly become a beloved tradition in the Wheaton community. Organized in partnership with the Wheaton Park District, the event pays tribute to those who serve and protect our nation while offering residents a space for patriotic reflection and celebration.
Nightly programming includes live performances by vocalists, bagpipers, drummers, and Honor Guards, along with dramatic flyovers and moving renditions of taps. Together, they create a powerful atmosphere of unity, remembrance, and gratitude.
Many local residents, like Lynn Dahle, took to social media to share their emotional reactions to the display. “My heart melted,” she wrote after spotting the flags on her way home from errands. “In the future, I’d love to participate.”

El Campo de Honor se llevará a cabo hasta el viernes 4 de julio y se ha convertido en una tradición muy querida en la comunidad de Wheaton. Organizado en colaboración con el Distrito de Parques de Wheaton, el evento rinde tributo a quienes sirven y protegen a nuestra nación, ofreciendo a los residentes un espacio para la reflexión patriótica y la celebración.
