Clarence “Ren” Hughes Jr., age 81, of West Chicago, passed away July 22, 2025. He was born April 2, 1944 to Clarence Sr. and Dolores Hughes in Geneva, IL.

He was proceeded in death by his wife, Barbara Hughes. He is survived by his daughters, Cindy (John) Macko, and Brenda (Vince) Elders; 6 grandchildren: Morgan (Steven) Hernandez, Courtney, Hayley, Chase, Logan, Cole; 7 great-grandchildren and his brother, Dennis (Lynn) Hughes.

Ren began working for the phone company soon after he graduated high school and was a valued and devoted employee until the day he retired.

Ren was a sports superfan. He loved his Chicago teams, as well as his alma mater’s football team, the West Chicago Wildcats. He was lucky enough to see all his favorite teams make it to the top and after his Cubbies finally won the world series he said, “now I can die happy.” He was very involved with the West Chicago High School as a football statistician for 48 years and President of the Educational Foundation for many years. He was active in the community as a board member of a local credit union.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 31st, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. & Main Street) West Chicago.
