Raymond J. Hill Jr passed away peacefully May 4, 2024 surrounded by family on his 89th birthday. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Bettie A. Hill. Dear son of Raymond J. Hill Sr. and Emma Leona Hill. Fond brother of Michael (Penny) Hill of Charlotte, NC. Loving father of David (Dianna) Hill of Madison, WI; Dianne (Owen) Derrick of Harrison, OH; Todd (Lisa) Hill of Atlanta, GA; Scott (Terri Cenar) Hill of Chicago, IL; and Jennifer (Jeff) Gerard of St.Charles, IL. Proud grandfather of Joshua, Joseph (Kristy), Jonathan (Carolina), Jackson (Kaily), Kyla, Mary, Annie, Elianne, and Delaney. Proud great grandfather of Aubrey, Tyler, and Violet.
Ray was born in Chanute, KS in 1935. He graduated from Coffeyville High School where he met Bettie Handshumaker. They married in 1957. He earned his MBA from Denver University and had a diverse professional career. Raymond and Bettie lived in Naperville, IL from 1985 until 2021 when they then moved to Batavia, IL, where Bettie resides. Over the 67 years of their marriage they enjoyed living in several states, traveling extensively worldwide, and spending time with family. Ray’s hobbies included watercolor painting, singing, reading, golf and volunteering at St. John’s Church and Naperville Community Unit School District 203.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 1st, 2024 at 10:00am, reception to follow, at St John’s Episcopal Church 750 Aurora Ave, Naperville, IL.
