After a year’s long battle with carcinoma, Dallas peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, August 18, 2024.
He was born on September 18, 1938 in Aurora, Illinois, the third child and only son of S. Edward and Marie Reid of Batavia, and grew up enjoying the Fox River that flowed behind the family home.
Upon graduation from Batavia High School in 1956, Dallas enlisted in the Army Active Reserves. After the Army, he went to work at Western Electric in West Chicago worked there until retirement.
He loved so many things like old cars, motorcycles, car shows and singing Johnny Cash songs. He was a wonderful artist and when he gave someone one of his drawings or paintings it was a gift from his soul. He loved the American flag and everything it stood for. He also loved volunteering at the Wheaton, IL VFW Post and meeting all the people that came in. He never knew a stranger. But what he loved more than anything else was his family.
Dallas and Mary Ellen Dunnett married in 1965 and were married for almost 59 years.
He is survived by his wife and children, Patrick (Chris Kroeber), Shane (Cynthia Westwood) and Kendra (Greg) Allarding, 5 grandchildren, Paeton, Kaeley, Aynslee, Andrew and Hunter, 3 great-grandchildren, Grayson, Ava and Parker, and a sister Nancy (Nordholm).
Dallas was preceded in death by his infant son, Christopher, his parents, a sister Roberta (Stohlman), and nephew Matthew.
