WEST CHICAGO, IL – Republican challenger Hannah Billingsley, a West Chicago homeowner and member of the city’s Plan and Development Commission, was defeated in her bid for the Illinois House of Representatives in the 49th District. Incumbent Democrat Maura Hirschauer retained her seat, receiving 15,933 votes to Billingsley’s 14,043, with a total of 29,976 votes cast in the race.
Billingsley, who was endorsed by the West Chicago Voice, ran a strong campaign focused on issues important to local constituents. As a commissioner on the Plan and Development Commission, she brought a deep understanding of community planning and local governance to her platform. Despite her efforts and the support from the local community, Hirschauer’s incumbency and established base ultimately gave her the edge in this election.
